Tun It Up - NellaLeah

About Tun It Up

Tun It Up is a Soca* song with a bit of Jamaican flair that was released on 16 February 2024. NellaLeah's love for soca and calypso music transcends across many areas of her life, from taking part in many carnivals in the Caribbean, to playing steel pan throughout her life, to writing and recording her very first soca song. Tun It Up was written by NellaLeah over 13 years ago in her college dorm in middle of winter in New Jersey. She was missing home and having carnival tabanca (slang terminology for love sickness from missing carnival and soca music), and decided to pay homage to her love for soca by writing the song. After many years, NellaLeah decided it was time to release the song and teamed up with the talented, Grammy award winning producer Jason "JG" Gilbert to bring Tun It Up to life!

*Soca music is a twist on Calypso that derived from Trinidad and Tobago. Soca literally means the '(So)ul of (Ca)lypso'. Soca music has since blended into the cultures of many Caribbean countries alongside each country's carnival celebration parade, including Jamaica.
